The Ecuador 5,000 Sucres banknote was issued by the Banco Central del Ecuador in 1999. Its obverse features Ecuadorean author Juan Montalvo and the coat of arms of the Tungurahua Province depicting an erupting volcano. The reverse of the note displays the national emblem and the wildlife of the Galapagos Islands such as a flightless cormorant, a Galapagos penguin, and a Galapagos tortoise. The banknote is 156 x 67 mm in size and bears a watermark that reflects Juan Montalvo. This 5,000 Sucres banknote is part of the Series AO and is in uncirculated condition. It has also been TAP authenticated with a grade of 60-70.
