The Egypt 50 Piastres Banknote from 2005 was released by the Central Bank of Egypt. The banknote is green, purple, yellow, and orange and is 135 x 70 mm in size. Its obverse depicts the Al Azhar Mosque in Cairo. The reverse displays Ramesses II in a war, stylized papyrus flowers, and a granite statue of Ramesses II holding a heka (crook) based from Museo Egizio in Turin, Italy. The reverse also features a prow of a reed boat and the name of Ramesses II in a cartouche. The paper bill bears the signature of Farouk Abd El Baky El Okda and a watermark that reveals the mask of King Tut-Ankh-Amon. It does not contain a security thread. This particular paper bill is in uncirculated condition and has the prefix #249.
