The European Union - Germany 500 Euro banknote was issued in 2002 and is in uncirculated condition. With Germany as its issuing country, the banknote bears a prefix X on its serial number. The obverse of the 160 x 82 mm paper bill shows a 20th century architectural design and the European Union flag. The reverse showcases a cable-stay bridge and a map. The banknotes security features consist of a holographic patch and a solid security thread that has a demetallized 500 EURO on it. It also bears the signature of Willem Duisenberg, the president of the European Central Bank at the time the banknote was issued. Furthermore, when held up to a light source, this banknote will show an image of a door and an electroptype 500.
