The 50 Falkland Island pound banknote was introduced on July 1, 1990. Its obverse side highlights the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II wearing Queen Victorias golden jubilee necklace and Grand Duchess Vladimirs tiara, with an image of three king penguins of different sizes on the left, the map of Falkland islands printed behind the English text and serial number, the islands coat of arms underneath the map, and two sea lions on the right side. The reverse side showcases two landmarks in Stanley: the Government House and the Christ Church Cathedral. The note does not have a security thread. However, it has an F-patterned watermark. The blue note measures 145 mm long and 75 mm wide.
