This uncirculated 2 Fijian dollar banknote is a numismatic product issued by the Reserve Bank of Fiji to “commemorate Fiji as the first country in the world to see the new millennium and the last to see the sunset of the old millennium”. It is a green, blue, brown, and orange banknote that is dated 2000, bears the signature of Jone Yavala Kubuabola, and measures 156 mm x 67 mm. Its obverse side contains a horizontal blue COMMEMORATING THE YEAR 2000 WHERE THE MILLENNIUM BEGINS and y2k overprints, English text, a perched Kaka bird, a portrait of Ratu Sir Penaia Ganilau, a silver metallic ornament, and the national coat of arms. Its reverse side depicts the map of the Fiji Islands and the 180° meridian with the rising sun, a man wearing a turban, young children, an infant, a man blowing a conch shell, a woman in a straw hat, sea turtles, a sailing boat, and flowers. Security features include a domodomo (canoe masthead) registration device, a windowed security thread, and a Fijian head watermark.
