The 2 Dollar Fijian banknote from the 2000 series was issued to mark the beginning of the new millennium. Its printed with a theme recognizing Fiji as the first country in the world to see the new millennium and the last to see the sunset of the old millennium. The front design of the note features a portrait of Fiji's first President Ratu Sir Penaia Ganilau, a Kaka bird perched on a branch, a domodomo as a registration device, a silver metallic ornament, and the national emblem. The reverse side features flowers, the map of Fiji Islands, a 180 meridian map with a rising sun, a man with a beard wearing a turban, a young boy and girl, and an infant, a man blowing into a conch shell, a woman wearing a straw hat, a sea turtle, and a sailing boat with palm trees in the background. The note is 156 x 67 mm in size and is equipped with a windowed security thread and a Fijian head watermark to enhance its security features.
