The 50 Cents Fijian banknote was issued in 1971 as part of the 1969 - 1971 Decimalized series. The note depicted a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II in the regalia of Order of the Garter uniform, painted by Italian artist Pietro Annigoni. Added to the front design are the countrys emblem and the signature of the chairman of the currency board, Wesley Barrett. The reverse side of the note features a thatched hut with palm trees, mountains, and a harbor in the background. The banknote has a dimension of 159 x 66 mm and contains a solid security thread and a Fijian head watermark to enhance its security features.
