The Fiji 7 Dollar banknote from the 2016-2017 series was issued to commemorate the Fiji Rugby 7s gold medal win at the 2016 Summer Olympics. The note has a 7-digit serial number and a 2-letter prefix "AU" which is the chemical symbol for gold. Its obverse side features the Fijian flag, Olympic coach Ben Ryan sitting on Sigatoka Sand Dunes, Fijian Rugby captain Osea Kolinisau running with a ball, a gold medal and RBF logo in OVI, and the national emblem. On the reverse are the Fijian Rugby 7s Gold Olympians with Prime Minister Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama and team officials. A domodomo and the bank logo are also added to the back design. The note measures 140 x 67 mm and is equipped with a 2-mm wide STARsheen windowed security thread with demetalized FIJI 7s GOLD OLYMPIANS to enhance its security features. Placing the note under a UV light would reflect a watermark image of Rugby player Savenaca Rawaca running with a ball and electrotype 7.
