The Fiji 7 Dollar Banknote from 2017 was issued to commemorate the Fiji Rugby 7s gold medal win at the 2016 Summer Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The obverse features the flag of Fiji, the gold medal, and the Reserve Bank of Fiji logo in Optically Variable Ink. It also features the coat of arms of Fiji, Olympic coach Ben Ryan sitting on Sigatoka Sand Dunes, and Olympic captain Osea Kolinisau running with a ball. The reverse side features the bank logo, a domodomo (canoe masthead), and Fiji Rugby 7s Gold Olympians with Prime Minister Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama and team officials. The note is 140 x 67 mm in size and is equipped with a 2-mm wide STAR sheen windowed security thread with demetalized FIJI 7s GOLD OLYMPIANS.
