The Fiji 7 Dollar Banknote was issued by the Reserve Bank of Fiji in 2016 as a specimen banknote. It was introduced to commemorate the Fiji Rugby 7s gold medal win at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. The obverse of the note is in a vertical orientation and features the Fijian flag, Olympic coach Ben Ryan sitting on Sigatoka Sand Dunes, and Olympic captain Osea Kolinisau running with a ball. It also shows a gold medal and the RBF logo in Optically Variable Ink and the coat of arms of Fiji. The reverse of the note depicts the Fiji Rugby 7s Gold Olympians with Prime Minister Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama and team officials. The note’s reverse also displays a domodomo (canoe masthead) and the bank logo. The banknote contains a 2-mm wide STARsheen windowed security thread with a demetallized FIJI 7s GOLD OLYMPIANS. It also bears a watermark that reveals rugby player Savenaca Rawaca running with a ball and an electrotype 7. It measures 140 x 67 mm. This particular specimen banknote has been graded 65 by the Paper Money Guaranty.
