The Fiji: Where the New Millennium Begins, 2 Uncut Banknote Set contains 2 uncut Fiji 2 Dollars banknotes issued to commemorate Fiji as the first country to see the new millennium and the last to see the sunset of the old millennium. The notes have a color combination of green, blue, brown, and orange. On the obverse is a horizontal blue COMMEMORATING THE / YEAR 2000 WHERE / THE MILLENNIUM BEGINS and y2k overprints. It also reflects a Kaka bird perched on a branch, a portrait of Ratu Sir Penaia Ganilau, a silver metallic ornament, and the coat of arms of Fiji. The reverse of the notes a flower, the map of Fiji islands and 180 degrees Meridian with a sun rising, a man with beard wearing a turban, a young boy and a girl, an infant, a man blowing into a conch shell, and a woman wearing a straw hat. The reverse also displays a sea turtle, a sailing boat with palm trees in the background, and flowers. These notes contain a windowed security thread, a watermark that reveals a Fijian’s head, and a registration device in the form of a canoe masthead (domodomo). These paper bills are 156 x 67 mm in size. This banknote set comes in a billfold and includes a Certificate of Authenticity.
