The Georgian 1 Million Lari banknote from the 1994 coupon series was designed by Nodar and Bachana Malazonia. Its colored in red and orange and contains a parallelogram pattern watermark for added security. Its obverse side depicts a carving of a griffin from the Samtavisi Cathedral flanking a Borjgali, the symbol of the sun and tree of life, and a vertical gray stripe at the right edge of the watermark area. On the reverse is a detailed carving of a grapevine also found in the 11th century Georgian Orthodox cathedral. The note does not contain any security threads however it measures 115 x 55 mm.
