The German Democratic Republic 5 Mark Banknote was issued by the German Note-Issuing bank in 1964. The obverse of the brown banknote depicts the coat of arms and a portrait of Alexander von Humboldt. The reverse of the note shows the coat of arms and the Humboldt University building in East Berlin with a gate and a tree. The note does not contain a security thread. Its watermark reveals a hammer and a compass. The note is 134 x 65 mm in size. This particular paper bill is in uncirculated condition.
