The 200-500 German Democratic Republic mark set is comprised of the two banknotes that the State Bank of the German Democratic Republic produced in order to meet the need for higher denominations, but were never issued due to the impending reunification. Authorities incinerated the remaining stored notes in 2002. Both notes have a solid security mark. The green and brown 200 mark banknote depicts a family walking by a hig-h-rise apartment building on the obverse, and a teacher and schoolchildren playing in front of a school building on the reverse. The states coat of arms are printed on both sides of the note, which measures 153 mm by 64 mm. The note has a dove watermark. The brown and pink 500 mark banknote has the coat of arms printed on both sides of the note. The obverse also features the national emblem, while the reverse features the Staatsrat (State Council) building in Berlin. The note measures 158 mm by 68 mm, and has the coat of arms as its watermark.
