It is a reddish-blue note that measures 154 mm x 74 mm, is dated 1 August 1991, and bears the signatures of Helmut Schlesinger and Hans Tietmeyer. Its obverse side features buildings in Leipzig, a lyre, and a portrait of Clara Schumann. Its reverse side shows the Hoch Conservatory building in Frankfurt, tuning forks, and a piano. Security features include a windowed security thread with demetalized 100 DM and a watermark of Clara Schumann and 100.
