The olive brown 50 German Federal Republic deutsche mark banknote is 146 mm long and 71 mm wide. The note highlights Johann Balthasar Neumann and his works. The obverse side features Balthasar Neumanns portrait and some of the buildings that he designed in Wurzburg, namely the Wurzburg Residence and a portion of the Wurzburg Cathedral. The reverse side features bank logo, the staircase in Wurzburg Residence, the Holy Cross Chapel in Kitzingen-Etwashausen and its ground plan, and the abbey church of Neresheim. The note has a windowed security thread with demetalized 50 DM, a watermark of Balthasar Neumann and 50.
