The Greece 1,000 Drachmaes Banknote from 1987 features one of the most important statues from the early classical era. Its obverse side features the Apollon of Olympia bust in the center, and an ancient coin at the bottom left. The reverse side features a Greek sculpture famously known as the Discobolus of Myron, and the Hera Temple ruins at Olympia. The note is 158 77 mm in size and contains a solid security thread, and a watermark image of Charioteer Polyzalos, to enhance its security features.
