It was issued for the Kingdom of Greece under the Regime of Colonels, which ran from 1967-1974. This 1,000 Greek drachma banknote, unlike its earlier version, has the head of the Youth of Antikythera as its watermark. The note measures 158 mm by 80 mm. Its obverse side depicts a statue of Zeus, the Greek god of lightning, and the theater in Epidavros. Its reverse side features a girl from Ydra standing in front of her home island.
