This 500 Greek drachmae banknote is part of the third series of Modern Greek drachmae issued by the Bank of Greece. The note has been demonetized since 2012. The obverse side features Ioannis Kapodistrias, the founder of the Modern Greek state, and his birthplace. The reverse side depicts a fortress overlooking Corfu. The dimensions of the note are 158 mm by 72 mm. Its watermark is Charioteer Polyzalos of Delphi.
