It is a green, orange, and red banknote that is dated 6 March 1991, bear the signatures of Fabian Bernardo Pira Arrivillaga, Jose Federico Linares Martinez, and Manuel Hiram Maza Castellanos, and measures 156 mm x 67 mm. Its obverse side shows a flying quetzal bird, a stylized temple with glyphs, a Mayan bird, and a portrait of the president and general Jose Maria Orellana. Its reverse side depicts the Mayan man and glyphs from the jade Leyden plate, the circular Mayan carving, and a view of the Bank of Guatemala headquarters in Guatemala City.
