This uncirculated 1 Guatemalan quetzal banknote is a standard circulation banknote issued by the Bank of Guatemala. It is a green, orange, and red banknote that is dated 9 January 1998, bear the signatures of Edin Homero Velasquez Escobedo, Edwin Giovanni Verbena de Leon, and Luis Artura Aguilar Solares, and measures 156 mm x 67 mm. Its obverse side shows a flying quetzal bird, a stylized temple with glyphs, a Mayan bird, and a portrait of Jose Maria Orellana. Its reverse side depicts the standing Mayan man and glyphs rom the jade Leyden plate (placa de Leyden), the circular Mayan carving (ara de Tikal), and the Bank of Guatemala headquarters building. The banknote does not have a security thread or a watermark. However, it has a Mayan glyph registration device.
