Guatemala 1 Quetzal Banknote, 1998, P-99, UNC

The Guatemala 1 Quetzal Banknote was issued by the Bank of Guatemala in 1998. It has a combination of green, orange, and red. Its obverse features president Jose Maria Orellana, a flying quetzal bird, a stylized temple with glyphs, and a Mayan bird. The reverse depicts the Bank of Guatemala headquarters building and trees. It also shows a Mayan man and glyphs from the jade Leyden plate and a circular Mayan carving. The banknote contains a registration device in the form of a Mayan glyph. It does not have a watermark or solid security thread. It is 156 x 67 mm in size and is signed by Giovanni Verbena de Leon, Edin Homero Velasquez Escobedo, and Luis Arturo Aguilar Solares. This particular banknote is in uncirculated condition.
