The Guatemala 20 Quetzal banknote from 2012 has a dimension of 156 x 67 mm. Its obverse side bears a portrait of the forefather and head of state Mariano Galvez, along with a flying quetzal bird, a Mayan man with a potted flower as a registration device, a stylized temple, and an embossed glyph. The reverse side features a group of delegates signing the declaration of independence of Central America, a Mayan man with a potted flower, a Mayan carving, and a flag. The security features of the note include a windowed security thread with demetalized BANCO DE GUATEMALA 20 and a watermark image of Mariano Galvez and electrotype 20.
