The Guatemala 5 Quetzales Banknote was issued by the Bank of Guatemala in 2003. It has hints of purple, green, orange, red, and blue. Its obverse features military General Justo Rufino Barrios Auyon who served as president of Guatemala. It also shows a flying quetzal bird, ears of corn, a stylized temple with glyphs, and a seated howling dog. The reverse depicts a school scene with a girl writing on a blackboard, students at the desk, and the teacher helping a boy write in a book. The note does not have a security thread or watermark but it has a Mayan mask as the registration device. It is 156 x 67 mm in size and is signed by Edwin Haroldo Matul Ruano and Lizardo Arturo Sosa Lopez. This particular banknote is in uncirculated condition.
