The Guatemala 5 Quetzal banknote that was issued in 2013 bears a portrait of President and General Justo Rufino Barrios Auyon on the front design, along with a flying quetzal bird, an open book, a flag, a stylized temple with glyphs, a seated howling dog, and a Mayan mask. The reverse side features a Mayan mask, a flag, an open book, and a school scene with a girl writing on the blackboard, students at desks, and a teacher helping a boy read a book. The note is printed on Guardian polymer substrate and measures 156 x 67 mm and does not contain any security threads however placing the note under a UV light would reflect a watermark shadow image of Justo Rufino Barrios Auyon.
