This round copper-nickel 2000 Guyanese dollar coin commemorates the 250th anniversary of the Berbice Slave Rebellion, a major historic event in Guyanas anti-colonial struggles. One side of the coin bears the national emblem of Guyana. The other side of the coin, designed by Adriam Juman, depicts the Berbice slave rescued by the liberation fightersa man with broken shackles raising his fist and facing towards the sun. The coin weighs 28 g and has a diameter of 38 mm. The coin comes with a booklet that contains a short history of the event and descriptions of the coin.
