The 1,000 Hong Kong dollar note measures 164 mm by 82 mm. The obverse side features a depiction of a Chinese dragon, and the reverse side depicts a scene of Victoria Harbour in 2003. The security features of the note are a holographic security thread with demetalized HK 100 print, a solid security thread, a fluorescent machine-readable barcode, iridescent bauhinia flowers, 1000 printed in UV ink, a watermark of a dragon, and an electrotype watermark 1000.
