Its obverse side features a seated allegorical woman and the crowned Coat of Arms depicting a unicorn and lion rampant with sailing ship and Chinese junks. The reverse side features the 3rd HSBC headquarters building in Central District, a stripped classical-style building that served as the government headquarters during the Japanese occupation in World War II. A winged female angel with a trumpet is also part of the back design.
