This Hong Kong 50 Dollar banknote was released in January 2013 by the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. The banknote's front design depicts the HSBC headquarters building, the bank logo as a registration device, a lion's statue, a lions head, and a numeric 50 in SPARK. The reverse side features a young man and woman reading a card from a hanging ornate lantern during the Spring Lantern Festival and the HSBC logo. The security features of the note include a green-to-magenta windowed security thread with demetalized HK50 and large HK made up of small letters to enhance its security features, a Bauhinia flower watermark, and electrotype 50 on pixelized design. The note measures 148 x 74 mm.
