It is a red banknote that is dated 1 January 2016, bears the signature of Chief Executive Peter T. S. Wong, and measures 153 mm x 76.5 mm. Its obverse side shows the HSBC headquarters building, a lion statue, and a SPARK feature of a lion head and 100. Its reverse side depicts a marching band and crowd celebrating the HKSAR (Hong Kong Special Administrative Region) Establishment Day and the Forever Blooming Bauhinia monument. Security features include a green-to-magenta windowed security thread with a demetalized HK100 and a large HK made up of small letters, an HSBC logo registration device, and a watermark of Bauhinia flowers with an electrotype 100 on a pixelized design.
