The India 5 Rupees Banknote was issued by the Reserve Bank of India between 1969 and 1970 to commemorate the 100th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. The banknote has a color combination of green, light blue, purple, orange, and brown. Its obverse features the lion capital of the Ashoka pillar. The reverse depicts a language panel, a seated Mahatma Gandhi reading a book at the Sabarmati Ashram, and the bank seal with a tiger and a palm tree. The note has a solid security thread. Its watermark reflects the lion capital of the Ashoka pillar, a vertical RBI, and 5. It is 118 x 63 mm in size and is signed by B.N Adarkar. This commemorative banknote has a pinhole and is in uncirculated condition. Additionally, this banknote has been TAP authenticated.
