The India 500 Rupees Banknote was issued by the Reserve Bank of India in 2016 with Plate Letter L. This stone gray banknote features Mahatma Gandhi on its obverse. The obverse also shows the RBI seal with a tiger and a palm tree and the lion capital of the Ashoka pillar. The reverse depicts the Swachh Bharat logo represented with Gandhi's eyeglasses, a language panel, and the Red Fort in Delhi. The note contains a 3-mm wide green-to-blue windowed security thread with a demetallized RBI and the country name. It also has a watermark that reveals a horizontal 500, a vertical RBI, Mahatma Gandhi, and a vertical electrotype 500. The note is 150 x 63 mm in size and is signed by Urjit R. Patel. This particular banknote is in uncirculated condition.
