This India 500 Rupee banknote from 2016 depicts a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi on the front design. The Indian lawyer and political ethicist led a successful movement for India's independence from the British colony. Alongside Gandhis portrait is the ancient Lion Capital of Ashoka Pillar, the denomination as the registration device, flowers, and the RBI seal with tiger and palm tree. The reverse side of the note features the reverse side features a language panel with Hindu text, the Swachh Bharat logo, and the historic Red Fort in Delhi. The banknote's security features include a 3-mm wide green-to-blue windowed security thread with demetalized RBI and Hindu text, a watermark image of Mahatma Gandhi, vertical electrotype 500 and RBI, and a Horizontal 500. The note measures 150 x 63 mm.
