Indonesia 50,000 Rupiah Banknote, 1999, P-139a, UNC

After the downfall of the Suharto government brought about by the Asian financial crisis, the Bank Indonesia issued a redesigned version of the notes. The 1999 version of the 50,000 rupiah note does not feature the portrait of Suharto on its obverse side. Instead, it has the portrait of the great Indonesian songwriter Wage Rudolf Soepratman. The reverse side shows six soldiers hosting the Indonesian flag. The note has a solid security thread with printed BANK INDONESIA 50000, a watermark of Hadji Oemar Said Tjokroaminoto, and an electrotype watermark of the Bank Indonesia seal. The note measures 152 mm by 76 mm. It was eventually withdrawn in 2008.
