This used 1,000 Italian lira banknote is a standard circulation banknote issued by the Bank of Italy in 1982. It is a brown, green, orange, purple, and black banknote that bear the signatures of Vittorio Stevani and Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, and measures 112 mm x 61 mm. Its obverse side shows the seal of the Maritime Republics and a portrait of Marco Polo. Its reverse side is vertically oriented and depicts a view of the Doge’s Palace in Piazza San Marco, Venice. Security features include a solid security thread and a watermark of Marco Polo with an electrotype BI monogram.
