This 1997 half dinar banknote contains the phrase THE HASHEMITE KINGDOM OF JORDAN, in Arabic on the front and English at the back. The front side also includes the year in Arabic numerals, the signatures of Marwan Awad (Minister of Finance) and Ziad Fariz (Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan), and the portrait of Al-Hussein ibn Talal wearing a kuffiyeh. The back side of the note also includes the Qusayr Amra desert castles and a deer. The note has a vase registration device, a solid security thread with the phrase CENTRAL BANK OF JORDAN, and a watermark of King Hussein in a kuffiyeh. Its dimensions are 131 mm by 62 mm.
