The Lesotho 2 Maloti banknote was issued by the Central Bank of Lesotho in 1989. The banknote comes in brown and is 120 x 56 mm in size. Featured on its obverse is King Moshoeshoe II wearing civilian clothes and the national emblem that depicts a crocodile on a shield flanked by Basotho horses. The reverse of the paper bill depicts the curio shop in Maseru formed like a Basotho hat. The paper bill bears a solid security thread with printed LESOTHO and a watermark that shows King Moshoeshoe II. Additionally, the note carries the signatures of Minister of Finance Evaristus Retselisitsoe Sekhonyana and Governor Anthony Morae Maruping.
