The Libya 1 Dinar banknote was issued by the Central Bank of Libya on 17 February 2013, commemorating the revolution that took off Muammar Qaddafi from power. The obverse side of the Libya 1 dinar banknote features a cheering crowd with flags. Centered on the reverse side of this note is the Libyan flag with doves flying around it. This 130 x 65 mm banknote has a holographic windowed security thread with demetallized Arabic characters. Its watermark consists of electrotype 1, cornerstones, and the leader of native resistance Omar Al-Mukhtar who was also called The Lion of the Desert.
