Released in 2009, the Macau 50 Patacas is part of the 2005 Banco Nacional Ultramarino series thats still currently in circulation. It is 148 x 74 mm in size and is largely brown in color. The obverse side features the Sai Wan Bridge, one of the three bridges that connect the Macau peninsula to the island of Taipa. The reverse side shows the Banco Nacional Ultramarino building along with its caravel logo in underprint, a design consistent in all the reverse sides of banknotes in the series. As for its security measure, this banknote features a 3-mm wide holographic windowed security thread.
