The Madagascar 5,000 Ariary Banknote was issued by the Central Bank of Madagascar in 2008 to commemorate the Madagascar Action Plan campaign to fight poverty and improve the economy. The note has a color combination of dark blue and yellow. Its obverse bears the Madagascar Action Plan 2007-2012 overprint, two fishing boats, sun rays, and the Madagascar naturellement overprint The reverse depicts the map of Madagascar, and beaches and houses on Bay of Fort Dauphin (Taolagnaro). The note contains a holographic stripe, map of Madagascar registration device, and a windowed security thread with demetallized BFM 5000. It also has a watermark that reveals Zebu cattle’s head and an electrotype 5000. The note is 150 x 75 mm in size and carries the signature of Frederic Rasamoely. This commemorative specimen banknote has been given a grade of 66 by the Paper Money Guaranty.
