This uncirculated 5 Malawian kwacha banknote is a standard circulation banknote issued by the Reserve Bank of Malawi. It is a green banknote that is dated 1st July 1997, bears the signature of Bank Governor Dr. Mathews A. P. Chikaonda, and measures 126 mm x 63 mm. Its obverse side shows a portrait of national hero John Chilembwe and three men fishing on Lake Malawi. Its reverse side depicts food security with three women pounding maize into flour and the bank logo. Security features include a fish registration device, a windowed security thread with a demetalized RBM, and a watermark of Chilembwe. The note was demonetized in 2013.
