The Malawi 500 Kwacha Banknote was issued by the Reserve Bank of Malawi in 2005. It has a color combination of brown and blue. Its obverse side shows two fishermen in a boat on Lake Malawi and a portrait of John Chilembwe. Its reverse side depicts a view of the Reserve Bank of Malawi headquarters building and animals in the savannah. Security features include a holographic stripe, a windowed security thread with a demetalized RBM, a woman carrying a bowl on her head as a registration device, and a watermark of Chilembwe with an electrotype 500. It is 162 mm x 81 mm and is signed by Bank Governor Victor Mbewe. This particular banknote is in uncirculated condition and has been TAP authenticated with a grade of 60-70.
