The Maldives 500 Rufiyaa Banknote is a standard circulation banknote issued by the Maldives Monetary Authority in 2015. The note has the theme “our ancestral craftsmanship”. Its obverse side features a seated woman making ekels traditionally used for brooms, an artisan carving wood using a mallet and chisel, a flower, and a Spark Orbital patch. Its reverse side is vertically oriented and shows a traditional hand-carved vase with lacquer work detailing. It does not have a security thread. However, it has a denomination registration device and a watermark that reveals a shadow image of the coat of arms. The note bears the signature of Dr. Azeema Adam and measures 150 mm x 70 mm. This particular banknote is printed on polymer and is in uncirculated condition. Additionally, it has been TAP authenticated with a grade of 60-70.
