Featured on their obverse design is the coat of arms of Mexico depicting a Mexican golden eagle on a pear cactus attacking a snake over a half-wreath made of oak and laurel. The reverse of each coin bears the denomination and a stylized design on the border. These designs stand for the Ring of Splendor, the Ring of Days, the Ring of the Serpents, the Ring on the Sacrifice, the Reed, the Ring of Acceptance, and the Sun Stone on the Aztec Calendar Stone.
