This uncirculated 5,000 Mexican peso banknote is part of the 1987 HE series. It is a brown, black, and tan banknote that is dated 24 February 1987, bears the signature of Banco de Mexico Cajero Gonzalo Garcia Rodriguez, and measures 157 mm x 67 mm. Its obverse side features the flag of the Battalion Activo de San Blas and the Boy Heroes, six military cadets who were killed during the Battle of Chapultepec. These six heroes are Vicente Suarez, Juan Escutia, Juan de la Barrera, Fernando M. de Oca, and Agustin Melgar. Its reverse side contains Spanish text, a bank guilloche, the bank seal, the Chapultepec Castle (Castillo de Chapultepec), and the 1847 military college shield. Though the note does not have a watermark, it has a solid security thread. It also has a vertical SANTANA printed on the lower left on the obverse side.
