Mexico 5 Pesos Banknote, 1972, P-62c.2, UNC, Series 1AX

The 5 Mexican peso note is part of the first family of banknotes that were printed by Banco de Mexicos banknote factory. This uncirculated note is dated 27 jun. 1972 and signed by Alfonso Romo, the Cashier of the Bank of Mexico. Its serial number starts with 1AX. The note has black, brown, and green colors and dimensions of 157 mm x 67 mm. Its front side contains Spanish text and Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez, an insurgent and supporter of the Mexican War of Independence who was married to the Corregidor of the city of Queretaro. Its reverse side contains Spanish text, a green Banco de Mexico seal, a green bank guilloche, a yucca plant, and a view of the city of Queretaro. Though this note does not have a security thread nor a watermark, it has a stylized eagle eating a snake as its registration device.
