This bimetallic 5 Mexican peso coin is part of the Bicentenary of Independence series, a series of commemorative coins issued by the Bank of Mexico to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Mexican War of Independence. This coin highlights Francisco Primo de Verdad y Ramos, a proponent and proto-martyr of Mexican independence from Spain. His bust is seen on one side of the coin. The other side of the coin shows the national arms of Mexico. The coin has an aluminum-bronze center and a stainless steel outer ring. It weighs 7.07 g and has a diameter of 25.5 mm.
