This bimetallic 5 Mexican peso coin is part of the Bicentenary of Independence series, a series of commemorative coins issued by the Bank of Mexico to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Mexican War of Independence. This coin highlights Maria de la Soledad Leona Camila Vicario Fernandez de San Salvador, the Distinguished and Beloved Mother of the Homeland who was a member of Los Guadalupes, funded the rebellion, and became one of the first female journalists in Mexico. Her bust is seen on one side of the coin. The other side of the coin shows the national arms of Mexico. The coin has an aluminum-bronze center and a stainless steel outer ring. It weighs 7.07 g and has a diameter of 25.5 mm. This coin is in mint condition.
