Its obverse side shows the national emblem of Mexico—a golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus devouring a snake above a half-wreath of oak and laurel. Its reverse side contains the denomination surrounded by the stylized image of the Ring of Serpents from the Aztec sunstone.
