This uncirculated 500 francs New Hebrides note is a standard circulation banknote issued by the Overseas Issuing Institute of New Hebrides. It is a blue note that is dated 1981 ND, bear the signatures of Marcel Theron and Yves Roland-Billecart, and measures 150 x 80 mm. Its obverse side features tropical fish, coral and sea fans, an outrigger canoe sailing boat, a Polynesian fisherman, and the coastal landscape of the Marquesas Islands. Its reverse side shows a beach scene of Hienghene, a mangrove branch, shellfish, harpoons, a wooden totem, and a Uvean man from the Loyalty Islands. Both sides of the note have a horizontal black Nouvelles-Hébrides overprint. Though there is no security thread, there is still a watermark of a female head wearing a Phrygian cap (Marianne), and RF.
